A week and a half ago, I went to sign Cali up to get spayed through the humane society, and ended up bringing Desiel home. My thoughts on doing this.....well, I was having some difficulty training Cali, and she is super hyper. Thought that maybe if I got an older, mellow dog, he would "rub" off on her? Well, after getting Desiel, my eyes were opened up to this whole new, wonderful world of dog ownership! Desiel is so perfect for our family. He is calm, he OBEYS EVERY COMMAND I give him, does NOT have accidents in the house, he is super gentle with Daisy and lets her do ANYTHING to her (wrap up his leg in ace bandages, cover him in blankets to snuggle, love on her...he just sits there and takes it. lol), and is just one BIG TEDDY BEAR. Made me feel kind of bad, I mean, Cali really is a sweet, beautiful dog, but she was SO much work, and sooo demanding. I knew that I just didn't have the time, patience, or schedule to really give her what she needs and deserves. And I was beginning to resent her behavior... A LOT. Plus, I couldn't leave her and Daisy alone, because she would grab her ankles with her teeth and try to drag her, or push her over when she jumped up on her. She would really hurt Daisy sometimes, and it just wasn't fun at all for Daisy. I guess maybe I should have researched a little more about what kind of dog would actually work out best for us, but I didn't. So, long story short, Cali has gone to a new home (she is with her brother). And I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. AND we are so happy to have Desiel! ....yes, he is a pit bull. They have a very bad rap. Desiel is very sweet, gentle, and OBEDIENT. I know what his is capable of, but I also have been keeping a very close eye on him and testing him out myself, by (gently) pulling on his ears, tail, ect. He was abused by previous owners and has scares, and marks on his body from the abuse. He is also skittish about new noises, but we are working on that. Never have I seen ANY aggression from him, all he ever wants to do is love on you. He is a great dog, and I have no worries about him ever hurting Daisy or any of our friends/family that come to visit. With all that out of the way, here are some pictures of Daisy and "her buddy"
What a good lookin' pup! Daisy looks like she loves him :)
