Hello Desiel....goodbye Cali...

A week and a half ago, I went to sign Cali up to get spayed through the humane society, and ended up bringing Desiel home. My thoughts on doing this.....well, I was having some difficulty training Cali, and she is super hyper. Thought that maybe if I got an older, mellow dog, he would "rub" off on her? Well, after getting Desiel, my eyes were opened up to this whole new, wonderful world of dog ownership! Desiel is so perfect for our family. He is calm, he OBEYS EVERY COMMAND I give him, does NOT have accidents in the house, he is super gentle with Daisy and lets her do ANYTHING to her (wrap up his leg in ace bandages, cover him in blankets to snuggle, love on her...he just sits there and takes it. lol), and is just one BIG TEDDY BEAR. Made me feel kind of bad, I mean, Cali really is a sweet, beautiful dog, but she was SO much work, and  sooo demanding. I knew that I just didn't have the time, patience, or schedule to really give her what she needs and deserves. And I was beginning to resent her behavior... A LOT. Plus, I couldn't leave her and Daisy alone, because she would grab her ankles with her teeth and try to drag her, or push her over when she jumped up on her. She would really hurt Daisy sometimes, and it just wasn't fun at all for Daisy. I guess maybe I should have researched a little more about what kind of dog would actually work out best for us, but I didn't. So, long story short, Cali has gone to a new home (she is with her brother). And I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. AND we are so happy to have Desiel! ....yes, he is a pit bull. They have a very bad rap. Desiel is very sweet, gentle, and OBEDIENT. I know what his is capable of, but I also have been keeping a very close eye on him and testing him out myself, by (gently) pulling on his ears, tail, ect. He was abused by previous owners and has scares, and marks on his body from the abuse. He is also skittish about new noises, but we are working on that. Never have I seen ANY aggression from him, all he ever wants to do is love on you. He is a great dog, and I have no worries about him ever hurting Daisy or any of our friends/family that come to visit. With all that out of the way, here are some pictures of Daisy and "her buddy"

Girl Scout Cookie Time!!!...

OK, here we go! It is Girl Scout Cookie Time!!! Daisy is selling Girl Scout Cookies for her troop. If any of you (friends/family) are interested in ordering some cookies from Daisy, you can order them in the right-hand column, and we will ship them to you FREE! We will pay the shipping as it is a non-profit deal. :) The cost is $4/box. And if you don't want the cookies for yourself, you can order some for troops overseas, how cool is that?! Just click the Operation Sweet Treats and choose how many boxes you want to send. :) I have set up a PayPal account to make it easier for some of you. If you don't want to order that way, shoot me a message and send me a check in the mail. We will be getting the cookies Mid-February and will ship them off to you ASAP! Thanks for helping Miss Daisy and her troop!!!

*Girl Scout Cookies on the East Coast have different names than on the West Coast, FYI. ie Samoa's on the West Coast are called Carmel Delites on the East Coast. ;) Kind of confusing, I know, but same great cookie!. Above is a picture of the East Coast cookies and names, below are the West Coast names. Kind of hard to see the description, sorry. There are also a couple different cookies that each coast sells, that the other does not sell. ie East Coast does NOT sell "Sugar Free Chocolate Chip" or "All Abouts", but they do sell "Shout-Outs" and "Thanks-A-Lots" that the West Coast does NOT sell. Again....little confusing. That is why I posted a pic of both W and E coast cookies. Any questions, let me know. :)

Oh my poor neglected blog....

Wow, it's been a while since an update, eh? lol So sorry, now that I am down to the very basic's at home (no tv, no internet, ect) I don't get around posting here too much anymore. So much easier to just upload to Facebook from my phone. But, since I have some free time at work today, and it is Christmas, I will update you all. :)

Sooo, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! I have to work day shift today, so my mom and step dad got up super early to come over to my home to open presents and eat breakfast before I headed into work. It was a great morning, and Daisy was very happy and excited about what Santa had to bring her.

(Cookies and milk for Santa....carrots for the reindeer)

My birthday: I turned 31 this year. It was a great birthday. I had to work night shift the night before my birthday. I didn't get off work until 8am on my birthday, so my mom brought my little girl to my work at 7am before taking her to school to give me presents, and birthday hugs and kisses. It was pretty sweet. Then my mom took us out to dinner that evening at Fatz Cafe.
Daisy also had her class Christmas party that day, which was also fun. I love her teacher, she really does a fabulous job! And she is all about Christmas. She went out and bought all of her students presents and had Santa bring them into the classroom to give to them. All the girls got barbie fairy's and all the boys got toy cars. They all loved them.

Gatlinberg: Fun town in TN. Lot's of stuff to do. We went with our friends for my birthday for a day of shopping, to get "old time" photos taken, and to go out to dinner at the Melting Pot. Very cool restaurant!...but not recommended to take kids to, as we learned while we were there. ;) Still fun, though, and YUMMY!

Daisy's Birthday: This year Daisy turns 7. Daisy wanted to have a sleepover this year, and had six girls total spend the night. (And yes, I survived! lol). It was a lot of fun, and Daisy loved having all her little friends over for one big sleepover. I just want to say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, having a basement family room. I just put all the girls downstairs on blow up mattresses to sleep, and they still had lot's of room to run around and play.

Girl Scouts: Still doing GS, and it is going pretty well. Being a troop leader is a lot harder that I thought it would be, but I'm getting through it. And the girls seem like they are enjoying it too. We started selling GS cookies this last week, and will be until March, so that should be TONS of fun (said super sarcastically....more like a big, huge head ache! lol) Really hoping I get through that without too much stress. Thank goodness I have a great assistant that helps me out a TON!

(Our troop got to march in the Veteran/s Day parade)

(Our troop making a mural during one of our meetings)

My House: I am having so much fun decorating my home and making it my own! Still have a few things I want to do, but it really is coming along pretty well. Here are some more pics:

(This is my "Family Tree". My friend helped me create this, and I LOVE it!)
(Yep, I turned my Fridge into a chalkboard! I really love this as well. It is super convenient to just jot down a quick note when you need to really quick and can't find a piece of paper, and Daisy loves to draw on it. Plus it looks COOL! ....I got this idea from Pinterest.com. I LOVE this site!!! If you haven't checked it out, you absolutely need to. And if you need someone to invite you (you have to be invited to join), let me know. I will send you an invite. :)

(Daisy's completed room. Again, I had some friend's over to help me paint it, and I sewed the valances myself and created the ribbon board above her desk. I think her room turned out really cool, and she loves it too!)

(I also redid her lamp shade to match her valances, but did that after I took the picture.)

(There are no fish in that fish tank yet...we are getting some on her real birthday)
(Art desk....her favorite thing to do is art. She loves her desk and spend a lot of time here creating art)
*Well, I thought I had some pics of my bedroom....but I don't. I'll take some though and post them on my next post. I didn't need to repaint it. I LOVE the color that is on the walls. I did buy myself some new curtains and comforter set, though. And I am pretty happy with the overall look of it. :)

Meet Cali....

The newest member of our family. (Yes, I broke down and got a dog...She is super sweet. 17 weeks, so still a bit of a puppy.)
